Platform Migration with Oracle Applications Release 12- How to migrate R12 to IBM AIX

As a member of ORACLE/IBM Joint Solution Center, I’m happy to learn the announcement of the “Platform Migration with Oracle Applications Release 12“. With this OracleMetalink Note 438086.1 all my “New” customers and prospects are able to migrate from their old hardware platform to IBM AIX now easily.

This process provides a way to quickly and easily move an existing Oracle Applications Middle Tier System to a different platform, allowing you to utilize different hardware for the Applications Middle Tier. The migration utility retains the exact Applications patch level so that no APPL_TOP/Database synchronization is necessary also allowing you to retain many existing customizations.

Considerations:

• This migration methodology requires E-Business Suite 12.0.4 or higher.
• This document applies to the Application Tier Only. The Database Tier is not covered on this Note.
• Migration to Windows Targets is not supported at this time.
