My collegues Frederic Michiara from Oracle and Thierry Plumeau from IBM working into ORACLE/IBM Joint Solutions Center did a fantastic document titled Oracle 11g RAC Release 1 with Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM) on IBM System p and i Running AIX 5L with SAN Storage.
Inside this document they describe step by step the architecture Oracle CRS (Cluster Ready Service) on raw disks and database on ASM (Automatic Storage Management).
They are staying opened to any add-on or your feedback from your own experiences don’t hesitate to send email to oraclibm at fr.ibm.com or directly to Frederic using : frederic.michiara at oracle.com. He will be happy to receive your feedback and remark on his work.
Through this document it’s interesting to see that ORACLE ASM is becoming a very powerful solution of cluster files. ASM is an integrated, high-performance database file system and disk manager. ASM is based on the principle that the database should manage storage instead of requiring an administrator to do it. ASM eliminates the need for you to directly manage potentially thousands of Oracle database files.

Frederic just told me that the Final version of this document will be available very soon after the IBM STG - Technical conference event at Sevilla, Spain.
